Demons
Demons are beings of darkness that dwell within The Realm of Darkness, and are the nearly only beings of darkness with the ability to enter The Realm of Light and in some cases also The Realm of Nothingness. There are a vast amount of different kinds of demons, and their numbers have been theorized to lie in the hundreds of quadrillions, though it is possible they are in fact literally infinite. Demons are, like nearly all other beings, separated by the Domains of the universe that they belong to, shaped by the rules and presets of that individual Domain. Demons can vary greatly in power between one another; where one might barely be strong enough to slay a mouse, some are powerful enough to threaten an entire Domain, such as Nan Taijan, who invaded the Realm of Light in The Tainted War. The vast majority of demons are believed to be cruel, violent, and extremely hostile to all life, though there are several cases where it is proven that not all demons are outright evil, even if their motives are not the most benevolent of sorts. One of these examples is Camika, the [data expunged].
The definition of a demon is a creature that was created within the Realm of Darkness as a pure side-effect from the chaotic nature of the realm, due to life as we know it belong to the concept of darkness. But at the same time there was no order in the realm to shape the minds and bodies of the demons into reasonable beings. This makes them the only creatures in existence not deliberately created by some form of deity.
Most demons, although some having distinct personalities linking them to a specific personality trait, such as lust or hate, ultimately serve no purpose, and simply exist because it is impossible to get rid of them all. Some, however, mostly the most powerful, serve as guardians of knowledge, life, or anything else within their Domain. Sometimes this guardian role is voluntary, but it is most often given to them by the deity(ies) of the Domain in order to keep them on a leash - which was known to fail miserably in the case of Vagora, the guardian of chaos in the Domain of The Divine Quartet.
Although belonging to the Realm of Darkness, some demons are able to traverse into the other two Realms, though it seems to require far more effort to enter and stay in the Realm of Nothingness than it does in the Realm of Light. Therefore, demons in the Realm of Nothingness are just about unheard of, while there have been many cases of demons entering the Realm of Light.
There have also been many great wars recorded throughout the history of the galaxy caused by an extremely powerful demon, a so-called Arch-demon, invading the Realm of Light with different motives, such as The Tainted War.
