Phased Disassembler Array
A device used in Taurgit ships, drydocks and factories for mainly construction purposes. PDAs used fusion torches to break down materials into atoms, and then the Magneto-Hydrodynamic Shunt Field would take care of sorting the atoms into containment cells. After which nanobots were used to recombine the atoms into small components and alloys. From then on, robots of increasing size were used to bring parts toghether.
Possible uses:
- Construction - the regular use a PDA will likely see during its operation
- Replacement parts - an ofshoot of construction, here the PDA is used to fabricate only the parts needed for quick field-repairs
- Drydock repair - PDAs can also be used to partially dismantle damaged ships and then recicle the scrap which goes towards repairing it. Can repair even the superstructure of a ship.
- "Agressive mining" - It is theoretically possible to "attack" unshielded ships with resource collectors, effectively "mining" it into resources. As the ships that are capable of doing so are usually unarmed and have the most basic armor, using this technology in such a way is frankly suicidal.
- "Welding" - as nanobots are used to assemble the smallest levels of components and alloys, they can also be used to effectively "weld" toghether large parts in a perfect manner. This enables the design of "monobloc" structures, i.e., structures that have no welding points, no bolts to tie parts toghether and no seams in plates, resulting in less stress points and reduced weight. This gives more "wiggle room" to either make ships and vehicles that are not as heavy, or to overengineer their structure and systems.
