Lightning Fighter Craft

The Lightning fighter is just as it sounds, a fast maneuverable fighter that strikes like its name sake. It is deployed first in any attempt to secure air dominance where its high speed and ability to outmaneuver other craft allows it to secure air dominance and pave the way for the Thunder Fighters. It is lighter than its bulkier cousin, and is less armored, and lacks the extreme firepower of the Thunder, but its speed makes up for its lack of defense. Like the Thunder it can be deployed from space to the engagement, or if an airbase is established on the ground it can deploy from their as well.

Use

The Lightning fighter is deployed first for establishing air dominance as its job it to out do its competition and clear the skies enough for the heavier Thunder fighter to begin doing its job in keeping the skies clear. It is also an effective scout due to its speed, and can perform reconnaissance.

It can be deployed as a fast strike bomber as well, but it must strike and leave lest it be shot down.

Its speed makes it an effective escort craft as well, where it can use its speed to quickly engage enemies and protect the Bomber while being supported by Thunder fighters. It suffers in a lower engagement range by limits on fuel, and so must take fuel tanks for better engagement ranges for extended fighting.

Armament

• Single Low mounted long barreled auto cannon.
• Twin linked Laser cannons, each mounted on the wing tips.
• Wing hard points for fuel tanks, rockets, Missiles or Bombs.
