Kaveni Empire Navy
The Kaveni Empire Ship branch or simply navy of the Kaveni military is the biggest military force of the Kaveni Empire and it works closely together with Kaveni Empire Fighter branch.

Battlegroups
A battlegroup is a small group of spaceships, often the number of ships in a battlegroup lies between 5 and 10. Most exploration missions are done by Battlegroups, they are also a common formation to use when dealing with small pockets of enemies. The flagship of a battlegroup is often a cruiser which in turn is supported by one or two destroyers and multiple frigates.
A battlegroup, when operating alone relies on speed, the cruiser and destroyers often engage the hostile formation with their main cannon or laser, they stay far away from the enemy while the frigates get close enough to use their missiles, torpedoes and Smartbombs
- Twenty-Seventh Battlegroup
The Twenty-Seventh Battlegroup is commanded by Lapau Toa from his flagship the KES Derina. The Twenty-Seventh Battlegroup is a diplomatic escort group and has never seen any action apart from wargames but they are still seen as one of the best Battlegroups in the Kaveni Navy due to the constant training Captain Lapau Toa puts them trough.
- Forty-Second Battlegroup
Commanded by Wea Toa flagship KES Jera
Flotillas
For the Kaveni groups between 20 and 60 military spaceships are called Flotillas, a Flotilla is commanded by a Rear Admiral from a dreadnought.
- Tenth Flotilla
The Tenth Flotilla of the Kaveni Empire Navy is commanded by Rear Admiral Phea Ewe. The Tenth Flotilla is one of the few heavy scout flotillas of the Kaveni Empire, a heavy scout flotilla is often send to scout systems with a habitable planet and high chances of developing intelligent life. Because of the likelihood that the Tenth Flotilla will be involved in possibly violent first contact situations they are kept at a very high level of combat readiness, and they are the best trained Flotilla in the Kaveni Navy. Rear Admiral Phea Ewe commands the Tenth Flotilla from the Battleship KES Fury of Yama, the twelve Line Cruisers are the main force of the Flotilla. There are Two Battle and Light Cruisers in the Tenth Flotilla and also ten Destroyers and fifteen Frigates, for additional support there is a Carrier in the Tenth Flotilla and two Carrier Cruisers. This brings the total amount of ships under Rear Admiral Phea Ewe to the number of 45, not counting the fifteen Troop Transport Corvettes
- Eleventh Flotilla
The Eleventh Flotilla is a Rapid Response Flotilla of the Kaveni Empire, it was send to reinforce the mining outpost during the Kaveni-Convenant incident but arrived a few minutes after the Convenant forces left the system.
Squadrons
A squadron is 3 flotillas, augmented by two scout battle groups and a command group of 1 dreadnaught, 5 heavy cruisers, and 1 carrier. (140 to 150 ships). Vice Admirals command squadrons.
Fleets
A fleet is 5 squadrons, lead by a dreadnaught or carrier, occasionally with a few extra battle groups thrown in. (800 ships). This is commanded by admirals, and is usually a significant portion of the entire navy.
Ships
This is a list of all the different ship types used by the Kaveni Empire as well as descriptions of specific ship classes.
Corvettes
Corvettes are the smallest crafts used in the Kaveni navy, they are most commonly used for the patrolling of trade routes or to board bigger ships, in larger fleets Corvettes are often used to Transport the Ground soldiers towards and from the battlefield. They often have a crew of about 10 people.
A corvette is always capable of Slipspace travel and they are the fastest military ships that can be build, however without any serious weapons this isn't very useful.

Frigates
The battle tactics of frigates depend entirely on the theater they operate in. Single ship and small unit actions see frigates as the front line , using speed and maneuvering to bring their missile batteries and light cannons to bear. Lightly armored , frigates cannot take much damage, and as such most battle groups use them to pressure enemies out of the line of battle.
In larger fleets, frigates serve as scouts and carrier defense. Nimble enough and fast enough to keep up with fighters, frigates are also a fleets primary defense against bombers and heavy fighters. The occasional heavy missile frigate is used primarily as a stand-off multiplier, providing heavy cover for other frigates.
Frigate tactical options are almost endless. Frigates can serve as flankers, as scouts, force multipliers, distractions, screens, or more. Frigate commanders are chosen for aggression, quick decision making, and the ability to be willing to sacrifice themselves to support larger , more important vessels. That being said, few frigate commanders graduate to anything beyond destroyers - even a few years in the role makes a CO too reckless for cruiser or dreadnaught command.
Frigates are piloted by a single Flight Lieutenant, and are used in almost all sorts of operations. They can have a crews as small as 20 Kaveni but there are also frigates with a crew of 90.
Stealth Frigates
- Starlight class
The Starlight class stealth Frigate is named after the only thing an enemy will see when they look at the ship, Starlight. Using state of the art stealth technologies that bend light around the ship it can turn literally invisible when the ship isn't moving. The Starlight class Frigate also can't be picked up by radar or any other normal detection system. The ship has a crew of 15 Kaveni and a single advanced Artificial intelligence.
Destroyers
Heavy enough to have some issues with lighter vessels, but far too light to go toe to toe with cruisers, destroyers are the light middleweights of space combat. Since most were built from the frames of light cruisers, they share basic structural toughness with that ship. Destroyers are the backbone of a battle group, providing the covering fire with heavier weapons to allow frigates to close.
Destroyer strategies are limited by the platform's design. A destroyer has a much harder time landing on planets, and will usually have poor airspace maneuverability. That means it's uses are limited mostly to space. Additionally, the destroyer has some of the heavier firepower of a cruiser, but neither the heat dissipation or power levels to maintain such heavy fire at length. They are good at oblique flanking and pressure tactics. They retain some but not all of the flexibility of the frigate, being more useful in the direct line of battle and less so in smaller units where they must take the brunt of the fighting.
As a result, destroyer CO's tend to go for the alpha strike, firing off everything at once and hoping to cripple the opponent. The captains are chosen from the best of the frigate commanders, and given additional training in target management.
Destroyers much large than frigates, but still are piloted by a single Flight Lieutenant.
Cruisers
Cruisers can enter atmosphere, for ground bombardment purposes, but are sluggish in doing so. Boasting both heavy internal and external armor, as well as segregated weapons, life support and combat support systems cruisers are difficult to knock out with a single strike, except by direct hit from a dreadnought's main gun.
Light Cruisers
Line Cruisers
These ships often form the core of a squadron and are the primary striking power of any fleet. On offense, these cruisers form a single line, presenting an unbroken front of direct, heavy missile, laser and Hollow Beam Laser fire. When the range closes, they present a broadside and being opening up with fire of opportunity. Defensively, they use staggered positions to cover each other in their broadside arcs, and tend to use their shots to attempt to disable and slow enemy ships rather than kill.
Battle Cruisers
The Battle Cruisers extremely heavy armament does allow it further flexibility, in that it can place firepower downrange that can destroy other cruisers in two or three shots. It's greater threat, however, means it rarely gets the chance to do so, often having to maneuver to avoid counter-fire.
Heavy Cruisers
Heavy cruiser captains are usually chosen from successful cruiser captains, or are trained in the academy after service on dreadnaughts. The hallmarks of the cruiser captain are more pronounced here - caution, long range engagement, use of supporting assets, and reluctance to close range until needed. The heavier armor and greater durability of these ships is offset by their threat . As such, heavy cruiser captains also take damage control courses and attempt to retain the services of experienced damage control officers when they can.
- Traveler class
When the Kaveni finally had the technology to build ships that could leave the Tawe star system designers had already prepared hundreds of different blueprints for ships. The Empire decided to mass produce a few of these, including the Traveler class. The Traveler class' hull is made using the strengthened Zabia metal of Anari design. The weapon systems were often outfitted onto the ships after they had landed on Azua.
The Traveler class Battle cruiser is often used as the flagship of a battle group, in this position they their variety of weapon systems such as Lasers, point defense turrets and fighters can be put to best use.
Carrier Cruisers
Carrier Cruisers are basically a smaller version of a Carrier, they carry fighters and bombers to a battlefield and try to stay behind the battle line. Because the Kaveni Empire relies heavily on their unmanned fighters Carrier Cruisers are common in all battle formations larger than Battlegroups.
- Shelter class
The Shelter class Carrier Cruisers have heavy Zabia metal armor and strong shields, like all carriers they are supposed to stay behind the main battle line and rely on friendly ships and their point defense lasers for protection.
The Shelter class Carriers have a very small crew for a cruiser their numbers are around 150 men and woman who maintain the ship and its Fighters. The hangar bays are kept a vacuum as a extra line of defense against boarding attacks, when a fighter is in need of repairs robotics will carry it to a pressurized maintenance room.
Dreadnoughts
These behemoths have to be assembled in space and cannot land on planets. They typically do not even think about entering an atmosphere, although it is theoretically possible, albeit with almost no real maneuverability.
Endurance is not even remotely a factor of these large ships, and often dreadnoughts provide supplies to smaller ships in their fleet.
Carriers
Carriers are huge ships that can carry of to thousands of fighters. Carriers have thick armor, strong shields and enough point-defense systems to take out a entire wing of Fighters in a single blow. However, because of their size and speed they make very good targets for the bigger ships in a fleet. Because of this the Carriers will stay behind the main battle line and constantly launch fighters into the battle.
Battleships
The armor of a Battleship , and it's staggering weapons load, mean that it's tactical options are both devastating and blunt. Battleships act as the firepower, focusing their shots on points of enemy resistance, leveraging broadsides in close quarters battle that can tear down a cruiser's shields and riddle it's hull with holes in seconds. Capable of pumping out literally hundreds of missiles in mere seconds and lasers that can scar the surface of a planet. Battleships also field fighter spacecraft to add to their ridiculous firepower.
Other
- M.O.E. Cruisers
The M.O.E. ( Movable Orbital Elevator ) is a very special pair of ships used in the Kaveni military. They are both only equipped with basic point-defense systems and never operate without at least a Flotilla to protect them. The first one of the Cruisers lands on the planet in question and the second ship places itself in geostationary orbit above it. Then a cable is brought down from the second ship all down to the surface of the planet, the cable is attached to the first ship as soon as it has anchored itself into the ground. Then the first cable is used to raise a second cable from the ship on the surface to the ship in orbit. When both cables are in place a elevator is placed on each of the two cables.
A experienced crew can place the double elevator in approximately four hours.
- Pilgrim Class Transporter
The Pilgrim Class Transporters were originally designed to transport liquids such as water or fuel but the modular cargo bays allow the ship to carry many different freights.
In the period that the Kaveni knew that they could not survive on Hoa but still hadn't found a habitable planet outside the Tawe system they build three shipyards just to mass produce Pilgrim Class Transporters. But just when the last one was halfway finished and the first two had already build a few dozen Transporters Azua was found and the Kaveni Empire lost the need to take their water with them in a giant fleet. The shipyards were abandoned to free up more resources to make ships that could later be re-purposed to function as warships.
In 2866 G.C the Kaveni Empire sold the first and third shipyard to the Kaveni run Helionis corporation.
