The Tainted War was an enormous armed conflict between the triple alliance of the Jinkou Republic, the Tio'ca Collective and the Vammar Federation, against the entire demonic fauna of the native Domain, under the command of Arch-demon Nan Taijan. Over 300 years long, it is one of the, if not the, longest wars in the history of the known galaxy. The war started with Nan Taijan, one of the most powerful arch-demons of the Domain, invading the mortal world in hopes of conquering and enslaving it, encouraged by the knowledge that Fareem had recently made an oath to herself to not interfere with the lives of her creations. The endless demonic army conquered large territories around the planet almost unhindered for over fifty years, the armies of the three nations being unable to stop them.
But by this time, Fareem had enough of the extreme cruelty of Nan Taijan's rule, and she broke her oath by blessing Jinkou warriors with the ability to utilize divine light as a weapon. These warriors became the first Guardians - protectors of life and justice. The Guardians quickly turned the tide of the war, and as their order grew, they began slowly pushing back the demons with their holy armours and arms. Soon another group of warriors emerged: Shiroi Tsume. They took the role of striking at the heart of the demon horde with the Guardians acting as support. The war was long and very bloody, but the Jinkou warriors proved enough to drive the demons back further and further, until they had them surrounded on Mount Ominori. There the legendary Battle of the Red Night took place, where the holy armies of the Jinkou managed to defeat the demonic horde and slay the demonic - but mortal - Nan Taijan, before banishing the demons to an unknown dimension, and thereby finally ending the war.
Both the Guardians and the Shiroi Tsume exist even today, mostly serving as holy symbols of the church, and as a reminder of the enormous sacrifices that had been given to bring back life to Ji'an along with serving as elite soldiers of the army, but they also serve as a vanguard against any potential demonic threat. The sentence "And on the blood of our fathers and the blood of our sons, the work of the Serpent shall be forever undone" is included in the initiation oaths of both the Guardians and the Shiroi Tsume.
