Smartbombs

Smartbombs radiate an omnidirectional pulse when activated that causes damage to surrounding vessels. They have an area of effect in which every object, hostile or otherwise, will be hit. Because of that they are all remotely controlled by a ship or station's Smartbomb VI. Sane use of smartbombs is often restricted to solo operations or long range fleet battles. smartbombs can turn out to be very useful in eliminating fighters or other small vessels. There are three types of Smartbomb: Small, Medium and Large.

Small

Small Smartbombs are often placed in small launch tubes in a dreadnoughts hull, when the sensors pick up enemy fighters they are launched into space and explode, taking the fighter down with them.

Medium

Medium Smartbombs are ofter launched from Heavy cruisers or Battleships, they are supposed to explode in the middle of enemy fleets, causing lots of damage and chaos.

Heavy

Heavy smartbombs are only used in orbital defense platforms they are a planet's last line of defense and are only used if the fact that the enemy fleet does not reach the planet is more important than the chance that parts of the planet's surface might ignite, from either the blast or the burning shipwrecks that follow.
