The Academian Islands, home to 70% of scientific explorations within the Unanian Empire has been a place of great advancement over the years. With 80% Of discoveries and new tech happening within the Islands, it is often described as the most technologically advanced cities in the empire; holding an average of a 40 years lead over the next closest city. Although the islands hold a large portion of scientists within the empire, this number is tiny when compared to the population of students which get enrolled in the Islands Unatro Classifications Program. With the amount of scientific focus going on in the islands, the average IQ within its borders is more than double that of the next closest location in the empire.

Founding of the Academia Island

The Academian Islands, founded after the Great War in 15G.C, were born after a need to get both Human and Fe'Juk scientists to work together, something which was particularly hard due to factors ranging from culture clashes all the way to general mistrust. The Original island which started on Tyril, a location chosen due to its relative emptiness after the Great War, its closeness to the capital and ease of getting those involved to want to move due to its natural landscape and climate.

Immediately once the location was chosen, the government had moved all government funded projects to the island. Because the government couldn't just mandate that all scientific endeavors was to be done on the island without trampling over the rights of corporations, the government instead chose to offer high subsidies and tax breaks which after the end of the year had 60% of corporations move their R&D Departments over with the rest moving over during the next 5 years.

Academian Islands Land Increase of 152G.C

In 151G.C, five years after the Unatro Val was mandated for public implantation, the Academian Islands Department of Unatro Sciences noticed that in relatively small portions of the populace, special abilities and power levels which had never been recorded in the hundred years of clinical trial were propping up around the empire. To stay on top of this issue and potential breakthrough, the then Minister of Science, Don Marrian, at the Unanian Agency of Science had quickly coordinated with the Unanian Government to secure the surrounding islands for Academian Island usage. It took a year and a half to finalize details with many of the other government organizations including general parliament which handled the large scale logistics of moving close to a billion out of the landmasses and into other cities around the empire.

When all of the details were finalized, the plan went into effect immediately with the government giving current citizens living on the new Academian Islands a full year to trade their house for another one in a different city. During this time, the islands began to build up and improve cities on their new islands up to Academian Island standards to prepare for the Unatro Classifications Program.

Northern Academian Islands

With the massive success of the Unatro Classifications Program which continued to bring in breakthrough after breakthrough, the Islands soon found themselves running out of usable space to expand their efforts. As more and more Classifications users continued to be born, the Academian Islands were forced to apply for more land in 237G.C with it being granted during the early 238G.C. Although many attribute the population growth of Unatro Classifications Users to the required need for more land, this was also brought on due to the increase of scientific explorations and breakthroughs in fields ranging from Anari Studies to Energy to Interstellar Travel in addition to the unknown nature of the Unatro which continued to grow in mystery with each passing year.

Following the Northern Islands being grabbed by the Academian Islands, in order to utilize their use space correctly, the islands ran an overhaul of its policies to allow for more sustainability in population growth and scientific explorations.

Security

In the Academian Islands, security is one of the top concerns of the Academian Islands Council. Top Secret information is kept within the Unanian Agency of Science's' Private Network with less secret information being kept within the general Galactic Network for all to access.

Residency

The Academian Islands operates under a restricted residency. This is done to ensure that the islands are able to keep track of the population in addition to being able to operate as efficiently as possible.

Scientists

Residency within the Academian Islands for those of the Scientific professions are restricted to those who are recognized under the Unanian Agency of Science as an individual with skills in the area.

Businesses

Businesses which have reached a set size are automatically granted access to set up a base of operations within the Academian Islands. In addition all businesses which hold an R&D Division may set up within the Academian Islands, regardless of size as long as they meet a set of criteria which is defined by the Unanian Agency of Science

Educators

Residency within the Academian Islands for those of the Education Industry are restricted to those who either hold a career within the Islands or have been contracted for work.

Unatro Classifications Program

To gain approval for residency under the Unatro Classifications Program, individuals are required to have been identified as a person with a Unatro Classification who has either shown a proficiency in their Unatro Abilities from a young age, those who have been classified with a unique ability or those who have a power which has yet to be classified.

For those who are under the age of legality within the Unanian Empire, the decision to apply for residency is up to the parents or guardians of the child. If the child is accepted, the child's immediate family is granted a full residency to the Academian Islands which lasts for as long as the child or person(s) with the classification continues to remain within the Islands. For parents or guardians which are unwilling or unable to move, they may apply to have their children live at the Student Dorms on District 7 (for the main islands) or District 3 (on the Northern Islands).

Costs

The costs of housing within the Academian Islands varies based on situation. For students living within the Student Dorms or together outside of the Student Dorms, housing is free of charge. In addition, students which choose to live within the islands with immediate family are provided housing free of charge as long as the student continues to be a student within the Unatro Classifications Program. When the student either leaves the Unatro Classifications Program or graduates parents and the student are expected to begin paying for housing.
