Hekmatyr Armaments is a privately funded Ventus light arms and armor manufacturer, trader, and buyer; originally founded as a government-owned company ran by millionaire David Hekmatyr before turning semi-private. Its main base of operations is the Syran industrial world of Lagash. It is a strictly infantry-oriented company, banned by governmental restrictions on creating and trading aircraft and armored vehicles due to fear of exclusive Ventus Knightmare technology spreading to other nations. However, this could change in the future as the company grows and government-owned companies such as EuroSec Knightmares decrease in economic viability.
Another limiting factor for the company's growth is the partial control the Kingdom of Edolas has on the Syran government, heavily enforcing the ban on giving out Knightmare technological secrets to any non-Ventus state or nation; but this could also change as the Syran government grows less reliant on Edolas imports and more independent from Edolas control. The company is currently owned around 65% by David Hekmatyr, with various shareholders from different states holding the remaining 35% of the company; but since the company is only semi-private, the government usually has the final say on most important decisions.
The company mostly does business via legitimate channels, supplying arms to the Syran and Andalusian governments along with other states and organisations of the Independent Systems upon request. But also delves into the galactic black market from time to time, supplying armaments to unsanctioned groups and individuals without the direct permission of the Syran government. This has resulted in Hekmatyr Armaments having a less-than-perfect image to the public, often toted as warmongers by critics and detractors; but as Hekmatyr both provides needed jobs and economic boosts to the Syran economy and keeps any less-than-legal deals out of the public spotlight, these criticisms are often disregarded as baseless drivel or lies.
The armaments available from Hekmatyr Armaments vary greatly, from plasma rifles to wristpad computers, but generally deal in Ventus weapon technology only a single technological tier down from current Edolas infantry weapons; or even at the same tier from time to time. This has made Hekmatyr a highly valued source of high-grade infantry weapons and technology for the Independent Systems, which has caused to them to look for opportunities to expand to larger empires. Most less-than-legal deals are overseen by David Hekmatyr's children, a group of fifteen men and women from four different wives (all of whom he's still married to, due to polygamy being legal in all Ventus states). Their names are all erased from any records aside from David's personal records, to prevent unneeded questions being asked by any investigators, unknowing company employees, or customers; and so they are mostly known by their codenames or nicknames. The most valued dealer in the company is currently David's daughter Jormungand, among his first children, who seemingly has a natural knack for closing arms deals with nearly anybody.
