The Unanian Galactic Network was developed 3364 years before the turn of the Galactic Calendar. Developed by the Aloverian Government, it was inspired by a network design provided by an Ancients AI found within a previous unmarked cave within Aloverian territory. Due to the countries vast fascination with advancing tech, they quickly reverse engineered and implemented the network. Because of its wide usage and vast improvements, it is held as the most improved technology within the Unani. Since its inception, The Unanian have made countless security and infrastructure updates to not only improve security, but also improve the availability of the network. To date the amount of currency that has been pumped into the network has been estimated at more than a few thousand times the total GDP of the entire empire.

Infrastructure Overview

The Galactic Network is a complex system involving multiple moving pieces. To operate it at maximum security and speed, the Unanian Empire puts plenty of time and money into ensuring it is always at tip top condition.

Nodes

The way the Galactic Network works is each Unanian System will contain one or several quantum entanglement nodes within a heavily guarded space station on the Orbital Plane of the systems main star. From there, they utilize either more quantum nodes (Important Core Worlds), or Subspace nodes which exist within both reality, and inside of a compressed pocket dimension to get data to and from a colony's Satellite Grid

User Side

The Galactic Network uses an extensive satellite grid orbiting worlds which beams down a constant connection to the Galactic Network for devices to pick up on and utilize. This is the main form of connectivity to the Network, with the Unanian Empire utilizing ground based stations for a closer connection point on higher populated worlds.

At its core, the Galactic Network is a Mesh Network meaning that it is constantly re configuring and optimizing itself for maximum throughput, this also allows citizens to disconnect themselves from the main network and form their own separate sub-net for private communication, or to keep the local network up and running in the event of a catastrophic failure caused by acts of nature, war or even sabotage.

Ship Connectivity

When it comes to ships travelling between colonies, you have conditions. If you are within Unanian Controlled Space, or within the space of their close Allies you can get a pretty good connection since they have the flexibility of being able to place quantum links between stars and along major shipping routes.

However if you are outside of their controlled space, your connection is all dependent on two things.

1. If your ship is large/important/expensive enough to include its own quantum link, then you get connection as if you are within Empire Space 2. If your ship utilizes a Node based system which travels between quantum link and your ship, then you are looking at a lengthy latency while the node travels back and fourth, a process that can take anywhere from hours to weeks depending on your distance to a Quantum link.

Military Galactic Network

The Military Galactic Network is a branch of the Unanian Galactic Network made specifically for the purpose of Military Usage by the Unanian Empire, The Entente and their allies.
